Ladies Veteran 2 Day Tournament proved very popular with a full field nominating a month out from the closing date. Many visiting players were from out of our district and as far away as Coffs Harbour.
We were overwhelmed with the response and co-operation from our Club including our Golf Shop and Bistro. They certainly helped our schedule run smoothly.
To ensure the success of the event we received sponsorship from Goulburn Mulwaree Council, the VWGA and the Clinton Medical Blooms Chemists. We thank them and really appreciate their generosity. We also thank Wayne Croker from Studio4 Signs who on short notice printed course layout maps to give to all visiting players.
At a Meet & Greet on the Monday each player received a GMC sample bag containing promotional gifts and information on Goulburn and surrounds. Lunch was provided on the Tuesday and a dinner with presentation was also held that night. In attendance at Wednesday’s presentation lunch were VWGA President Virginia Hewitt, Vice President Patricia Huthwaite, Life Member Cecilia Smith, GMC Representative Councillor Daniel Strickland and GGC Club President Barry Christoff.
Good prizes were on offer and besides the main competition there was an abundance of NTP’s, Straight Drives etc. We also had a Super Duper Vet prize for the over 75’s competitors.
The tournament was capped off with the very exciting first day 4BBB win from our very own Carol Naismith and Deanne Worboys with 47 points. It is the first time in the 75yr history of the Country Tournament that Goulburn players have won. Carol and Deanne’s name will be engraved on the Diamond Jubilee Shield trophy provided by the VWGA.
