Goulburn Golf Club's Local Rules

Local Rules:

A set of regulations that are ignored only by players on one specific course rather than by golfers as a whole. (Henry Beard and Roy McKie from Golfing – A Duffer’s Dictionary)

Here you will find a list of the local rules for the Goulburn Golf Club.

Out of Bounds

That area beyond the course boundary fences and any part of the course so marked, and includes:The practice fairwayThe Club House and its surroundsThe Car ParkOut of Bounds stakes are white with black tops.

Ground Under Repair (Rule 25)

Those areas the margins of which are defined by white stakes and/or lines, or by GUR signage.The Greenkeeper’s CompoundThe Pump House, (situated between the 6th and 14th fairways) Note: Stakes defining GUR are Immovable Obstructions.

Staked Trees and Shrubs

If a staked or guarded, tree or shrub interferes with the player’s stance or area of intended swing, the ball MUST be lifted without penalty and dropped in accordance with the procedure prescribed in Rule 24-2b(i) – Immovable Obstruction.Note: The stakes and tree guards are Immovable Obstructions.

Roads and Paths (Rule 24-2)

Artificially surfaced roads and paths (includes gravel and wood-chips) are Immovable Obstructions. All other tracks and paths that are not predominately surfaced are integral parts of the course from which the ball must be played as it lies or declared unplayable (Rule 28).Note: The gravel and wood-chips are loose impediments.

Penalty For Breach of Local Rule

Match Play – Loss of hole. Stroke Play – Two Strokes

Dress Regulations

Club Rules are to be adhered to by all members and guests. All persons must be correctly attired, neat and tidy at all times.

Permitted

  • Slacks
  • Dress jeans
  • Acceptable footwear
  • Shorts
  • Dress shirt with sleeves and collar
  • Work wear, sports socks, sandals
  • Or casual shoes without socks until 8.00pm daily

Not Permitted

  • Thongs
  • Overalls
  • Singlets
  • Slippers
  • Ugg boots
  • Football socks
  • Football jerseys
  • Brief or track shorts
  • Spikes in the clubhouse
  • Dirty or untidy clothing
  • T-Shirts or shirts bearing insignias of doubtful nature

Temporary Members

Any person may, at the discretion of the Board, be entitled to be admitted as a temporary member provided their ordinary place of residence is not within 10km of the club.
